Ed’s Bees Honey
Mharsanta is buzzing with excitement to feature Ed’s Bees – a true taste of Glasgow’s rich and diverse natural landscape.
From the parks and gardens of Pollokshields to the West End’s botanical surroundings, Ed’s urban beekeeping provides a haven for honeybees while producing some of the most unique and flavourful honey in Scotland.
Supporting Bees in the City
For nearly 30 years, Ed has been keeping bees in Pollokshields, growing from just two hives to over forty thriving colonies. Urban environments like Glasgow provide a crucial refuge for honeybees, offering year-round foraging without the risks of modern agricultural practices. From crocus and tree blossom in spring to lime, ivy, and heather later in the year, these bees have access to an incredible variety of nectar sources, creating honey with a distinctive and ever-changing flavour profile.
Glasgow’s Rooftop Beekeeping
Beyond the apiaries of Pollokshields and the West End, Ed’s Bees also manages hives across the city, including on the rooftops of The Blythswood Hotel, The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice, the SEC & Hydro, and Barclays Campus. This initiative not only supports local biodiversity but also brings awareness to the importance of protecting our vital pollinators.
